The Photography Project

I was asked to document and capture a downhill mountain bike event organised in the mountains near Malaga, Spain. I was offered accommodation for the week, so I jumped at the chance for some winter sun.

The event was held at three different locations - two downhill tracks with jumps and berms, one being in the mountains where we needed pick-up trucks and trailers to get to the top.

Another being the infamous ‘Malaga Dam’ for some crazy speeds and very atmospheric photos and video footage by Visual Media Cambridge.

The Results

It was a great week, and the weather was the warmest January that Spain had experienced. It was great fun capturing the team as they flew around, over jumps and, very often, over my head. I also wanted to capture the in-between moments with the group to document the atmosphere of the trip.

It was a good challenge to lock on focus and fire shots rapidly as they zoomed past, but it’s very rewarding when you get that key shot.
